Actress Lois Maxwell, who portrayed Moneypenny, dies at 80
Lois Maxwell, the Canadian born actress who portrayed the secretary Miss Moneypenny in fourteen James Bond films died at 80. She had been diagnosed with cancer and was living in Australia to be closer to her son. Leaving home at 15 to join the army, Ms. Maxwell enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London to avoid being sent home when her age was discovered. Desmond Llewelyn, the actor who played Q has performed in more James Bond films. Starting from 1946, her acting career lasted over half a century, concluding with the 2001 thriller “The Fourth Angel”.
