After missing his September 17 court date, a judge ruled in Mr. Lapoleon’s absence. On Tuesday, October 2, Lorne Matthew Lapoleon was convicted of perpetrating a hoax regarding, but not guilty on a charge of uttering a threat. In 2006, Lapoleon sent a message warning of an attack on Canada's Integrated National Security Enforcement Team in Ottawa and claimed that cell members were plotting to bomb the Royal Danish Consulate in North Vancouver and the American Consulate in downtown Vancouver. Court documents indicate that the hoax had cost taxpayers over $100,000. There is now a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.
