Topps recalls contaminated meat that possibly sickened 21

On Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that 21 people across 8 states may have been sickened to due possibly contaminated ground beef sold by Topps Meat Company. The New Jersey-based company issued a recall for meat that is possibly contaminated with E. coli bacteria including 331,582 pounds of frozen beef patties and 21 of its products that have been distributed across the country. Out of the 21 reported cases, three have been confirmed as caused by the company’s beef. These include two in New York and one in Florida. The other cases are currently being investigated.
