A mistrial has been declared in the second-degree murder case against music producer Phil Spector. Spector had been accused of the murder of actress Lana Clarkson at his home on Feb. 3, 2003. Clarkson died from a gunshot wound from a revolver placed in her mouth. However, no fingerprints could be found on the weapon, despite testimony that, subsequent to the gunshot, Spector stated “I think I killed someone” while holding the revolver in his hand. The jury deadlocked 10 to 2, favoring conviction, and the prosecution is seeking permission to retry the case at an October 3 hearing.
