On September 10, 2007, NASA officials gave Rocketplane Kistler notice that it was 30 days away from having its contract with the agency for commercial flights to the International Space station canceled, due to failure to meet two of the necessary contract milestones The primary issue revolves around RpK's failure to raise the necessary $500 million in private investment, a necessary part of the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) contract. However, the decision has not been finalized, and RpK can still maintain the contract if they are able to meet their fund raising shortfalls at the end of 30 days.
