A pregnant woman stabbed another expectant mother to death at the homeless shelter where they lived. Shantelle Scruggs, 21, is charged with manslaughter for killing Barbara Santos, 26. Both women were eight months pregnant and lived at the shelter. Scruggs fought with Santos Friday and stabbed her in the chest. Santos died an hour later; attempts to save her baby were unsuccessful. Santos had two other children, ages 6 and 7. Scruggs has 1-year-old twins. The children lived at the shelter with their mothers; they were turned over to Social Services after the incident. Neither woman had a criminal record.
