Psych evaluation ordered for man accused of strangling teen daughter
Miguel Matias, 34, was ordered to undergo a psychiatric examination. Matias told police he strangled his 14-year-old daughter Ana after he found her writing "sex things" on a computer. During the hearing, prosecutor Elizabeth McGrath read from a statement Matias gave police and prosecutors, which detailed how he initially picked up a bat, but fearing blood, instead tied a knot around an electrical cord and used it to strangle her. Matias called 911 on Saturday morning. He said he had dumped her body in a wooded area in the Bronx but officers discovered her body in his apartment building’s boiler.
