Chinese media report that passengers riding the “Fireball” attraction at the Wuhu Fangte Amusement Park were left stranded upside down with their legs pointed towards the sky when the ride came to an abrupt halt at the top of a loop. Eighteen passengers were hanging for half an hour several meters above the park on New Year’s Eve. Reports say local authorities and officials from Wuhu Fangte, China’s biggest amusement park, rescued the passengers and rushed some of them to the hospital to be treated for dizziness. Investigations show that strong headwind triggered a mechanical fault that caused the stall.
