The New York Times reported Saturday that Marion Jones may be up for a double sentence -- one for lying about steroid use and one for lying about her role in a check-fraud scheme. Judge Kenneth Karas filed an order asking prosecutors and defense lawyers why Jones should not receive two consecutive sentences. Karas said consecutive sentences may be possible if her two counts of providing false statements occurred in “separate investigations of unrelated criminal conduct in different jurisdictions.” He also said he is not bound by the plea agreement in which a maximum of six months imprisonment was suggested.
