Netflix and LG revealed Wednesday plans to market an LG-branded set-top box that would allow consumers to stream video content from the internet to HDTVs. The straight-to-TV service is due in fall 2008, the companies said. The LG partnership would expand Netflix’s current service that lets users stream movies to their PCs. Netflix chief executive Reed Hastings said the company's Internet-streaming service has “been wildly successful for the under-25 crowd that lives on their laptops” but that approach isn't going to "get to the whole market.” Hasting adds the LG deal is the “first of many” partnerships Netflix is planning.
