On Saturday, the US Food and Drug Administration issued a warning against eating oysters that are harvested from a specific area of West Karako Bay in Louisiana. Health officials say the oysters are possibly contaminated with the norovirus. According to the agency’s advisory, consumers must particularly avoid mussels harvested between December 3 and 21 from growing area 3 of the bay. At least seven victims have been reported to be ill after eating oysters at a restaurant in Tennessee. The mussels were confirmed to have been harvested from West Karako Bay and shipped by Prestige Oyster Company of Theriot, Louisiana.
