On Saturday afternoon, an unidentified trucker in his 40s who was hauling a load of Volkswagen cars suffered some kind of medical emergency and drove his cab and several cars off a pier and into San Diego Bay. Authorities say the man blacked out at the marine terminal and regained consciousness underwater. He was able to swim to the surface where dock workers helped him out of the water. He is reportedly good condition. Reports say the driver was bound for Los Angeles with a load of 2008 Volkswagens of various models. Three of the cars fell into the bay.
