At around 10:30PM on Sunday, police in Knoxville, Tennessee fatally shot a man suspected of killing a Hooters customer. Twenty-five-year-old David Michael Rudd was located behind a restaurant in the city’s western area. He reportedly refused to follow orders to drop two weapons he carried. Officers then shot him several times. According to a Knoxville police spokesman, authorities have not positively identified Rudd as the man who argued with a Hooters restaurant cashier over his bill early on Saturday before leaving the restaurant and firing shots into it. The gunfire killed a Michigan man and wounded the store’s assistant manager.
