Slain opposition leader Benazir Bhutto’s party is due to meet on Sunday to discuss who will succeed her as the new Pakistan People’s Party leader and to decide on whether to contest the upcoming election. According to TIME, a senior PPP official said that Bhutto’s 19-year-old son, Bilawal, will likely be named as her political heir and the new party leader. Bilawal is studying political science at Oxford University. The PPP, which has dismissed government accusations that Bhutto was killed by Al Qaeda, will also decide on whether to participate in the January 8 elections or call for a postponement.
