On Thursday, a Hamilton County common pleas judge sentenced 20-year-old Andrew Butler and 22-year-old Christopher Avery to 20 years in prison after the two pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated robbery and six charges of kidnapping. According to prosecutors, the two were armed and were wearing masks when they took $130,000 from a crowded bank on July 17. One day earlier, they unsuccessfully tried to rob a check-cashing business. In an attempt to justify their actions, Butler, from University of Toledo, and Avery, from University of Cincinnati, said that they were trying to raise money to finance their education.
