Colombian rebels to release three hostages to Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela
Venezuelan officials coordinating the release of three captives by Colombian rebels will receive them Friday, the country's ambassador to Colombia said. They await in Caracas the arrival of representatives of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador and France, who will witness handover along with Colombia's presidential peace commissioner and a former Venezuelan interior minister. The three hostages to be released are Clara Rojas, campaign manager of former presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt, also being held hostage; Rojas' three-year-old son Emmanuel and former lawmaker Consuelo Gonzales. It is the first time in more than five years that FARC will unilaterally release "political" hostages.
