A suspension bridge over the Bheri River collapsed in Chunchu village, about 500 kilometres west of Kathmandu in Nepal on Tuesday. Officials say at least 15 people have been killed and dozens - perhaps 100 or more - are missing. Officials fear there could be many more casualties because the icy river has strong currents and is difficult to swim. Authorities believe about 500 people traveling on foot to a village fair were crossing the Bheri River on the bridge when its support cables snapped under the weight. Search and rescue missions will resume at daybreak on Wednesday, officials report.
