A study led by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that teenagers who participate in schools’ formal sex education classes are far more likely to delay sex than those who didn’t. Responses from 2,019 teenagers from 15-19 years old were analyzed by researchers who concluded that formal sex education is leading to safer sex. The study shows that participative teenage boys were 71% less likely to have sex before 15 while girls were about 60% likely to put off sex until at least that age. The teenage boys were also three times more likely to use contraceptives.
