Thieves stole 17.6 tons of ham and bacon from the Zammit Ham and Bacon Curers warehouse in suburban Sydney. The crooks daubed "Thanks" and "Merry Christmas" on a wall. Police said the robbery occurred sometime between late afternoon Saturday and dawn Sunday. Owner Anthony Zammit said he found a hole in a wall of the building when he arrived for work Monday. The stolen meat is worth about $88,000. Zammit said he was offering a $4,420 reward for anyone who helps recover the meat, and that his company will work overtime to make sure all its Christmas orders are filled.
