Twenty-seven-year-old Luis Hidalgo from Uniondale broke into the home of a 64-year-old man and beat him with a karaoke machine before biting his ear off. After the incident on Thursday, Nassau County police say he did not leave the residence and waited for the police to arrive. He was being held at the county jail on a cash bail of $250,000 or a bond of $500,000 after pleading guilty to charges of burglary and assault in the apparently random crime. The ear of the victim who reportedly tried to defend himself with a vacuum cleaner hose could not be reattached.
