After Wal-Mart Sam’s Club reported that some of its customers had fallen ill because of some frozen group beef patties from Cargill Meat Solutions, the company voluntarily issued a recall for 834,000 pounds of meat that is suspected to be contaminated with E. coli bacteria. Cargill, known as the largest agricultural company in the country, said the meat was produced from August 9-17 and were sold mostly to restaurants. Three cases of E. coli bacteria poisoning due to Cargill meat have already surfaced in Minnesota. Last weekend, another leading meat company had to shut down due to extensive meat recalls.
